The 2026 SCBWI CenCal Writers and Illustrators Day will take place at the Pleasant Valley Recreation and Park District Auditorium

Join us for CRAFT, CREATIVITY, AND COMMUNITY at Writers and Illustrators Day 2026!

Meet up with other creatives on Saturday, October 24, 2026, at the Pleasant Valley Recreation and Park District Auditorium, 1605 E. Burnley Street in Camarillo (same as last year). Lunch is provided. In addition to our speakers and first pages panel, we’ll be offering written critiques, writing contests, prizes, and a chance to mingle with other writers and illustrators. There will be an optional pitchfest on the next Saturday, October 31, 2026, via Zoom.

Presenters include acquiring literary agent Julie Romeis Sanders with SteelWorks Literary. Two professionals from Lawley Publishing will be sharing their knowledge, Carrie Turley, publisher/editor, and Lara Law, publisher/art director. Editor Rachel Diebel with Feiwel & Friends will also be participating. A book promotion expert will be in attendance to share marketing ideas.

Our Spotlight Speakers will give short 10-minute talks on their new creative works.This year’s presenters include author Lynn Becker and illustrator Merry Miller Gass.

Optional online pitches will take place on Saturday, October 31, via Zoom. Our Pitch faculty includes Kayla Cichello, agent with Upstart Crow; Carter Hasegawa, agent with Tugeau; Julie Romeis Sanders, agent with SteelWorks Literary; and Rachel Diebel, editor with Feiwel & Friends.

Registration opens July 18. Early bird price is $130, which includes lunch. Starting August 1, the price goes up to $150. Please follow SCBWI CenCal from your SCBWI home to be added to our mailing list and be the first to know when further information is available.
