Comic Orange takes place on April 13, 2024, at the Tustin Library. Comic Orange is a celebration of libraries, graphic novels, cosplay, animation, and more! SCBWI SoCal authors and illustrators will have a table at this event, so check out the Comic Orange website. And be sure to stop by!

It’s nearly time to “find your spark” at the L.A. Times Festival of Books. This annual event takes place April 20–21 on the spacious University of Southern California campus. General admission is free for all outdoor events and activities. Indoor events and panels require a small fee. Visit SCBWI Los Angeles and SoCal regions at booth 826. Meet local authors and illustrators. Purchase a book and have it signed by them. Download the free L.A. Times Festival of Books app for Apple or Google and make plans TODAY to join SCBWI at the L.A. Times Festival of Books 2024.

Kite Tales “Ask the Editor” columnist Christine Van Zandt will be guest speaker at the SCBWI SoCal region meet-up on April 28. Expect a free, fun and informative presentation where Christine answers YOUR questions utilizing her 15 years of experience as a children’s book editor. She’s also a traditionally published picture book author who sold her first book unagented and has passed on an offer of representation—but is now happily repped. She’ll share behind-the-scenes info, all you have to do is ask! More information here.
