Join us for Writers and Illustrators Day 2024!

CONNECTING THE CREATIVE DOTS is Saturday, September 21, 2024, with an optional online pitchfest/portfolio review the following day, Sunday, September 22, for an additional fee. The first day is in-person at a new venue, the Pleasant Valley Recreation and Park District Auditorium, 1605 E. Burnley Street in Camarillo. Lunch is provided.

CenCal Writers and Illustrators Day is September 21–22, 2024, with in person and online components.

Saturday’s event includes writing contests, written critiques, prizes, photo opportunities, and a chance to mingle with other writers and illustrators. There will be tables for you to display your illustrator portfolio, newest book(s), and handouts. Presenters include Jennie Kendrick, agent at Red Fox LiteraryCourtney Donovan, agent at Writers HouseAndrea Welch, editor at Simon & Schuster Beach Lane Books; and Michele Robbins, publisher at Familius Publishing.

Optional written critiques are $60, and the following people will be available for written critiques: Jennie Kendrick, Courtney Donovan, Andrea Welch, Michele Robbins, Patricia Toht, and Andrea Morrison from Writers House. Critiques will be handed out at the conclusion of the event. There is no in-person meeting with your critiquer. 

An optional online pitchfest/portfolio review on Sunday, September 22, for Writers and Illustrators Day attendees only, is available at an additional cost. For $50 attendees can reserve a 10-minute pitch spot or portfolio review. Reviewers include Jennie Kendrick, agent at Red Fox Literary; Ariel Richardson, editor at Chronicle BooksJoann Hill, creative director at Disney Hyperion;  Lynnette Novak, agent at The Seymour Agency; and Jaime Gelman, associate editor at Little Bee Books.
