Thousands of book-loving families flocked to the OC Children’s Book Festival at Orange Coast College on October 1. The event featured hundreds of booths as well as several on-stage presentations. SoCal SCBWI hosted a booth with its published authors, illustrators, and author-illustrators.
Author-illustrator Susi Schaefer, SoCal’s co-organizer for the event said, “We [tried] something new by having a lot of things to draw the kids in.” The activities included cornhole with sticker prizes, an hourly prize spinner, and bubbles.
“[Having more interactive games and prizes] proved really effective!” author and co-organizer Heather Buchta said. “We [had] a lot of kids coming by and talking with the authors so that [was] fun.”
