As 2023 draws to a close, we look back and celebrate our connections with friends and industry professionals, enjoying warm memories of events past. We look forward to future joys found in the myriad ways we and our colleagues bring stories to young people everywhere. And we anticipate the fun of offering programming in the coming year that will inspire, energize, and illuminate your creative path.

Did you know that Los Angeles was the founding SCBWI regional chapter? Judy Enderle and Stephanie Gordon were the original “regional advisor” volunteers. Some of you will remember those days, we’re sure, and if you do, congratulations on your membership longevity! SCBWI has grown to now include some seventy-eight chapters globally. You can connect to any one of them and explore by signing into the new parent website at SCBWI.org

Oh, and remember, if you haven’t already, to choose Los Angeles as one of your regions to follow (my profile > edit > settings > manage SCBWI regions). The new system will not automatically send local chapter news unless you give permission (by choosing to follow on your settings). We wouldn’t want you to miss any of the great lineup we have planned for 2024!

Finally, as always, huge thanks to all the members who have volunteered their time and talent to make this region work. No coal for you. Yay!

Sending virtual sleighs full of encouragement and holiday cheer!
